In a bold move, Elon Musk called for the U.S. government to eliminate entire agencies, asserting that major changes are needed to streamline spending and reform federal priorities under the Trump administration. Speaking via video at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Musk mingled his views on bureaucracy with critical commentary about artificial intelligence and global military dynamics.

“We really have here rule of the bureaucracy as opposed to rule of the people — democracy,” Musk remarked, donning a T-shirt that playfully labeled him as the “White House’s tech support.” His statement about deleting agencies stemmed from a desire to uproot inefficiencies, likening government agencies to weeds that need to be completely removed to prevent them from returning.

This appearance is particularly notable given Musk’s significant influence in government matters since taking on a role focused on enhancing government efficiency. On the topic of AI development, Musk shared updates about the chatbot Grok 3 from X, predicting its rollout will happen in a matter of weeks. He also discussed his criticisms of OpenAI and the leadership of Sam Altman, drawing parallels with environmental non-profits that have shifted away from their original missions.

Alongside these remarks, Musk unveiled plans for a major transportation project dubbed the “Dubai Loop.” This initiative would align with his Boring Company’s tunneling efforts ongoing in Las Vegas. Dubai’s Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum mentioned the potential for an underground transit system spanning 17 kilometers with 11 stations, allowing for rapid passenger transport.

Musk painted an ambitious picture of the project, stating, “It’s going to be like a wormhole. You just wormhole from one part of the city — boom — and you’re out in another part of the city.” It’s clear that Musk is aiming for nothing less than a transformative impact with his ideas, though time will tell how much traction they gain.
